Our Programs

Learn about many of our great programs here. Some have a section dedicated to them, which can be accessed from the menu to the left. To find out when there are events, please check Home and/or Calendar.

Our programming focuses on three key areas: (1) academics, (2) service, and (3) community.
Academics

Induction Ceremony
beautifully decorated ceremony for new members

Every spring, we recognize 1st years for their excellent academic acheivements. A formal ceremony allows family and friends to witness their student sign the official member book and receive their certificates and pins. Existing members are also honored for extraordinary contribution to the societies with awards and scholarships.

Peer Connect
mentoring for incoming students by current Bruins

College is a new and exciting chapter of life, but it could also bring the challenges of adjusting to a new environment. This program pairs up an incoming first year student with a current student during the Fall quarter so that s/he can learn the way around academics and life at UCLA. It culminates in a social event so that first years, current members, and officers can make new connections.

Reading to Kids
reading and working with elementary school students

Although this is a new program for our chapter, it has been highly successful. It strives to inspire underserved children so that they are better prepared to succeed in life and enjoy the opportunities that come with an education. Every (selected) second Saturday of the month, we will go on location to read and do crafts with the students during the morning. Participants will have an option to select the grade level (1st-5th) they would like to work with. For more information, visit their site at www.readingtokids.org.

Teamworks
inspiring students to acheive and reach for higher education

A couple times each year, we assist with the Teamworks organization in providing information regarding higher education. With team building activities, workshops, and a campus tour, we hope to encourage these students to succeed in school and attend college in the future.

Caught Studying
candy for studying around Halloween

On or around Halloween each year, we provide candy to students as a way to aid their studying. Usually, we'll target Powell Library or the Hill. Not only is it in the spirit of Halloween, it's also because of midterm season! Either way, sweets are perfect for anytime.

Blue Books and Finals
offering Blue Books and encouragement for finals

Did you see our banner on Bruin Walk? Hopefully, it will provide Bruins a little something during a hectic week before finals. Additionally, we distribute Blue Books at various locations.

Service

Westwood Horizons
dancing with the elderly

From time to time, we'll provide you the opportunity to dance with the elderly at Westwood home. Often times, they will coincide with a holiday and have the corresponding theme. Brighten up their lives and dance!

Heal the Bay
cleaning up the beach at Santa Monica

Since Santa Monica is a favorite hot spot for UCLA students, why not make it nicer and also help the environment at the same time? Espcially after raining, trash can collect on the sands. So lend a hand to a community-wide project.

Community
Often times, we'll combine a social with one of the other events so that members can get to know each other better and have some fun. Don't miss out!
